We left Myrtle Beach and headed back to the mountains for three days.
We spent one day with Mike, Ellen, and the puppies checking out a place to stay in October when we come back to this area…Mike found us a very cool campground and at a good price. Down by the River near Newland NC. Right off The Blue Ridge Parkway…
Today we went to Downtown Asheville. Our first stop was Basilica St. Lawrence.
These pictures will not do it justice, the church is A-MAZING. The architecture design is Spanish Renaissance…it was built in early 1900 and will remain for many many more years. Its stone foundation and brick structure is the reason why. The dome structure was built with tile and has a span of 58×82 feet and is the largest unsupported dome in North America.
After that, we had lunch and did some walking around downtown Asheville..
We will be back in this area in October….
